What is media bias?

Media bias is the bias or perceived bias of journalists and news producers within the mass media in the selection of many events and stories that are reported and how they are covered. The term "media bias" implies a pervasive or widespread bias contravening the standards of journalism, rather than the perspective of an individual journalist or article. In a fast-paced era of online news, bias is everywhere and we as readers need to be able to recognize media bias when we see it.

There are many different types of media bias including opinions presented as objective truths, fearmongering, ad hominem attacks, cherry picking, and journalistic spin.
