Beware of content intended to elicit outrage or fear.

Fearmongering is a type of media bias that is meant to elicit fear, outrage, or a similar strong emotion from the reader. Journalists will typically make us of dramatic yet vague langauge and hyperbole in an effort to stir a reader's emotions.

For example, the headline "The Next Mega Disasters that Could Happen at Any Moment (and Kill Us All)" from Fox News uses hyperbole in an effort to scare the viewer into thinking the apocalypse is on the horizon. It's important not to give in to language like this, the fact of the matter is nearly always out there, and in order to responsibly consume the news we need to search for it.
